A Meeting of the Minds in Manila
by Vicky Herrera (Published April 16, 2011 in Inquirer 2bU)
40 of the city’s top young movers and shakers in media, art, youth, tourism, government, business and NGOs gather to discuss change and progress
“I CALL MYSELF a dot-connector,” said Sarah Meier-Albano, as she opened the “Meeting of the Minds Manila Talk” last March 31. In a cozy office room of co[Lab] Manila, she and her husband, Banjo Albano of Project Heal Manila, invited 40 of the city’s top young influencers (and young at heart) in media, art, youth, tourism, government, business and NGOs. Guest speaker Ruby Veridiano facilitated the discussion.
The purpose: To discuss what “Change and Progress” meant to them. It was such an inspiring and refreshing event, to be able to come together and share openly how you felt about certain issues in the Philippines. This meeting connected like-minded individuals who were passionate in really contributing and doing their part in improving society.
As it says on co[Lab] Manila’s website, “You turn to the left and you can talk to someone from media. To your right, you can exchange ideas with someone from the fashion industry. There were people from government, lovers of music, filmmakers, graphic designers, writers and bloggers. The energy was just bouncing off the walls, and the exchange was geared towards one common passion: Harnessing our creativity and talents to bring change to the community we live in.”
